Getting on plane. the smaller the boat, the more effect crew positioning will have on the boat's ability to plane. if everyone sits on one side, the boat will not ride level; if all the crew rides in the aft cockpit, the stern will be depressed, and getting the boat up onto plane may be impossible. passengers should be evenly distributed.. Doesn't towing a boat with another boat, isn't that putting a tremendous amount of stress in your drive, much less trying to get on plane with the tow boat. i think trying to get the tow boat and boat being towed would just destroy a drive.. Towing boats has never been an issue, we usually tow with the pylon and put rope on the towed boat through bow eye, and tie off in to any cleat. and yes always keep a knife at the ready to ditch the towed whatever it is. have towed loads of docks, big cruisers, house boats and a barge, never an issue..
On hudson bay and on many sprawling canadian lakes, there isn't. the alternative is to charter a power boat to tow your canoe to a nearby village or fishing camp where there's road, rail or float plane access. canoeing texts make towing sound like a lark. it isn't.. Trying to tow a sea plane back to shore/garage. Re: towing a dinghy on plane? i have towed jet skis on plane in calm water. the towing bridle puts a lot of stress on the bow eyelet keeping the craft level..
