For a single boat, it just aint worth it. it is a very very expensive process and unless you intend to use it to build many many boats it is a waste. building a one-off hull using a foam or plywood core fully encased in fiberglass can result in a boat that is both lighter and stronger than a comparable mass produced boat.. Building a boat mold is one of the first steps in building a fiberglass boat. in short, the process involves building a plug, which is an exact duplicate of the boat you want to build. for small boats, like canoes and kayaks, the plug is often made from wood covered with fiberglass.. One of the easier repairs is general fiberglass repair to the hull and deck of fiberglass boats. step 1 – preparation. for precaution, wear protective gear. remove the boat from the water and thoroughly wash the affected areas. allow those areas to dry completely before attempting any repairs..
