This week i made my way up to klamath falls to drop off some boats to the ledge. while i was there i hooked up with local kayak fishing guru dean limb from the feelfree kayaks fishing team.. I see more and more kayak's on the water these days!!! kokanee fishing, jigging for chinook, and bobber and herring fishing for chums!!! great to see 'em out on the water!!!. The lake merwin kokanee fishery is turning on again. i have caught near limits on a few of my recent outings. this year's crop of kokanee look great with a few 14" fish already in the mix with chunky 12" fish dominating the catch..
Kokanee are landlocked sockeye salmon. they don't grow as big as their sea run counterparts and are similar in size to brook trout. one of my goals for the fishing season was to catch a kokanee that qualifies for a ct trophy award..
