The costs will depend on the portion of the boat being painted, the contractor you’re using, the type of boat, the length of the boat and where you live. according to members on cruisersforum.com, a forum member said a painting job for the hull can be around $150 per foot or around $500 per foot for the deck.. Boat wrap vs. paint job: benefits to consider cost – boat wraps are a more cost-efficient method of updating your boat’s aesthetic appearance, costing only about a third of what marine painting typically costs.. A close estimate for boats painted with a quality paint like awlgrip or imron will run you at about $100 a foot with little to minor repairs on the boat. if any extra work needs to be done to prep the boat for paint then it might be a little extra. $500 is on the cheap side. for a quality job it takes time and experience..
I asked the broker what it would cost to repaint the whole boat.. he called a well known yard in charleston, sc, and they told him to budget about $30,000 for an awlgrip job. i never did anything at that time, but i can well imagine the costs have gone up since then.. today i would budget $35,000 to maybe $40,000.. This is my first attempt at painting. learned a lot. u can see a lot amateur, but got the job done. when the paint falls off il just redo it.. I think your pricing may be high because you're not taking it to shop that does boats regularly. i got estimates in your range when i was pricing also. normal shops just aren't setup to paint boat so the cost will always be much higher. that boat should paint for arount 2,000.00 when taken to a marine paint shop..
